  • Post author:

beautifulwallingfordfarmersmarket2With little fanfare (so little, in fact, that they neglected to let their neighborhood blog know), the Wallingford Farmers Market kicks off its season today at Meridian Park, with many returning vendors plus several new vendors, including Two If By Seafoods (salmon), Farmbox Greens (microgreens), Seattle Pops (popsicles), Around the Table Farm withBainbridge Island VineyardsSoulever Chocolates, and Ethan Stowell Restaurants sporting prepared foods.

There will be a cooking demonstration by Chef Jason Brzozowy from Tilth and Agrodolce at 4 p.m.

The market opens to chefs at 3:30 pm and the general public at 4:00 pm today, Wednesday, May 28th and will return every Wednesday through September 24th. Go eat!

I started Wallyhood back in 2008, right when my son was born, because I realized I had lived in the neighborhood since 1993 and didn't really know my neighbors. I figured writing a blog about what was going on around me would be a good way to meet people and help other people do the same. As the years progressed, those neighbors have picked up the torch and it is now a group effort, which I adore. I moved out of Wallingford for a few years (2020 - 2025), but I'm back, now living with my wife, son and dog (Dillinger) up in Tangletown.

The signs have been up sans dates for a few weeks now: I had pleasant walks to Meridian Park last week and the week before, so it was nice to find the actual farmers market there this week! Also, I was there at 3:30 and able to make purchases.
