U District Community Acupuncture

UCA300Wallyhood welcomes our newest sponsor, Susie Fanslow Sabunciyan, EAMP of the U District Community Acupuncture. She’s been practicing acupuncture and Chinese herbs for five years, and worked at another community acupuncture clinic up on Capitol Hill prior to opening up shop in the U District.

I was a bit curious what the “community” in “community acupuncture” meant. From their web site:

Patients are seated in comfortable recliners for about an hour receiving treatment. The appointment times are staggered, allowing for private consultation and plenty of opportunity for needle retention. By receiving treatments together, costs are kept low and patients are able to get acupuncture as often as they need.

Affordability isn’t the only advantage to a community setting. Whenever people are receiving acupuncture together, a collective healing atmosphere is created. This makes for a more powerful, energetic experience for each individual.

I started Wallyhood back in 2008, right when my son was born, because I realized I had lived in the neighborhood since 1993 and didn't really know my neighbors. I figured writing a blog about what was going on around me would be a good way to meet people and help other people do the same. As the years progressed, those neighbors have picked up the torch and it is now a group effort, which I adore. I moved out of Wallingford for a few years (2020 - 2025), but I'm back, now living with my wife, son and dog (Dillinger) up in Tangletown.
