Sweet Side Moving Up

photo (6) (1)A few intrepid eyes have noticed that the storefront vacated by the Night Light nail salon (which moved to the corner of 45th and Thackeray, into the spot that was vacated by Comics Dungeon, which moved across the street to take over part of Petosa’s Accordions) has a “Sweet Side” sign in it, along with some balloons. Kara Burfeind confirms that she’ll be moving her SweetSide bakery, now located just north of Gas Works Park, up to to  254 N 45th St:

Thanks for the email, and YES we are moving! Up until now, The SweetSide has been had a commercial kitchen down by Gasworks Park where created custom cakes and desserts that were delivered to weddings and large events around town. We are beyond excited to be moving up into our first retail shop on 45th in Wallingford!

We will be offering Specialty Cakes and Desserts to the Wallingford and surrounding areas. That means that in addition to our custom-designed, from-scratch birthday/special occasion cakes, guests can stop by and pick up our signature cakes and cheesecakes by the slice, a wide variety of our ever popular French Macarons, a rotating selection of other tasty desserts and a selection of fine packaged candies, birthday candles and other merchandise. We also will have a limited number of whole cakes and cheesecakes in our signature flavors available for purchase to take to a dinner or birthday party.

(Thanks Braden Gustafson and Darcey Blinn for the tip!)

I started Wallyhood back in 2008, right when my son was born, because I realized I had lived in the neighborhood since 1993 and didn't really know my neighbors. I figured writing a blog about what was going on around me would be a good way to meet people and help other people do the same. As the years progressed, those neighbors have picked up the torch and it is now a group effort, which I adore. I moved out of Wallingford for a few years (2020 - 2025), but I'm back, now living with my wife, son and dog (Dillinger) up in Tangletown.
