Next Gen Christmas Lights

All I want for Christmas is to be in the Wallyhood blog!  I live at 4220 1st Ave NE and I’m a Christmas light fanatic.  For the last 3 years I’ve been slowly adding to my Christmas light show.  Here is a video of one of my songs.
With all the lousy weather we’ve been having, maybe lights can offer some Christmas cheer.

Folks, it’s not a competition, but Steve ones.

I started Wallyhood back in 2008, right when my son was born, because I realized I had lived in the neighborhood since 1993 and didn't really know my neighbors. I figured writing a blog about what was going on around me would be a good way to meet people and help other people do the same. As the years progressed, those neighbors have picked up the torch and it is now a group effort, which I adore. I moved out of Wallingford for a few years (2020 - 2025), but I'm back, now living with my wife, son and dog (Dillinger) up in Tangletown.

Awesome. Is there a time each night that it is on?

The lights are on every day from 4:30 – 10pm, now until New Years!

That’s awesome, and I love the song! I will make a point to come by and see in person!

    I’m walking by tonight!!!

We love the Zaske light show!

The “lousy weather we’ve been having”? Looking at the rest of the country, we’re having FANTASTIC warm winter weather, relatively speaking. 55 degrees today!

And… what do your neighbors say about the continuous music on your outdoor PA?

Totally.Awesome. Thanks for bringing such fun holiday cheer to the neighborhood! We’ll be coming by more than once before it’s all over, and we already look forward to next year!

Beautiful. Heading over within the hour!

I happened upon your house by accident on the way to Candy Cane Lane. After seeing your place, Candy Cane Lane was a bit of a let down! I went back over tonight to see what I missed but it looked like half of the lights were out. When they’re up again, please let us know!!

We love it, thanks for all great work! This is coming from fellow 1st avenue-ers, though a couple of blocks south 🙂

Steve, how is this setup? Is it an out-of-the-box product or is it a DYI project? I’d like to know more please. Thanks!

MisterR, I was there last night and saw two of their neighbors, one directly next door and one directly across the street, and I can report that they didn’t say a thing except a friendly hello with a smile.

As for the weather, I think Steve meant to say “dreary.” Even when it’s mild, day after day of gray can do a number on one’s mood, and cheerful lights are just the thing. Merry Christmas!

As a neighbor of Steve’s, I can honestly say he’s gone too far and it’s awesome.

Came by tonight with out of town relatives! Even in the pouring rain, it was awesome!!

This is a great light show and I love Barbra Streisand. Good job, I wish we knew how to do this type of decorations. Thanks. Patty and Joe

Thanks everyone for the kind words. The lights will be up for a few more days. I hope to add a bunch of lights and new songs next year.

Olivier, this is not something you can buy. Most of the display is custom built by myself. If anyone is interested in building their own light display I’m more than happy to show you how. Contact me at steve at zaske dot com.

    Always an awesome display!

    Hi Steve,

Joe tried to find your address but got lost. I really want to come see your lights so please leave them up until after New Year’s, at least until the weekend after New Year’s Day. Thanks so much.

The show was awesome! Can’t wait for next year!

Well, I think we found your house but there were no lights so I didn’t get to see them in person. I am sorry you took them down so soon. I was hoping you would see my comment and leave them up until this weekend. Sorry we missed them. Our lights are still up until about January 8.
