Things should be busy over at Green Lake today, with the The Love ‘em or Leave ‘em Valentine’s Day Dash 5K at Green Lake. Says the organizers:
The event consists of a 5K run & walk that people can compete in as individuals or as two-person teams. For the two person teams, the finish times of those two people are added together with the top finishers in twelve different categories winning prizes. The 5K route uses the streets around Green Lake Park except for a short section near Aurora where it uses the cement path inside the park. In support of Valentine’s Day and those who are searching for love, we have designed the race bib numbers that the participants wear so that they can self select their relationship status (the three check box options are “Single”, “Taken” and “It’s Complicated”).
The finish line festival will be located near the Aqua Theatre grandstands and it will include 20+ exhibitor booths, our costume contest judging and the beer/wine/mimosa garden. The event also has a free kids dash for children 10 & under called the PCC Healthy Kids Little Heartbeet Run. Partial proceeds from the event will be donated to the Green Lake Chamber of Commerce.
- 8:00am – Registration & packet pickup tents open
- 9:00am – Beer & Wine Garden opens
- 9:10am – Free kids dash starts
- 9:30am – 5K run/walk starts
