Bala Yoga Opening in Wallingford

Jordan Jordan October 18, 2015 3 Comments

Kirkland’s Bala Yoga is opening a new location in lower Wallingford, soft opening this Thursday, October 22nd.

Mike Baiocchi, the Bala Yoga CEO (does “Yoga CEO” sound weird to you, too?) explained “we chose this location because we felt there was a need for a community like ours in the Fremont area. We have many students that have moved from the eastside to Seattle and now their favorite studio will be nearby. I also believe this area is less saturated and offers more opportunity for the locals to enjoy yoga within walking distance. Fremont is a great area with amazing people and energy. We are excited to open our doors to all of them.”

unnamed (65)Instead of getting in a huff about whether the east side of Stone Way is Wallingford or Fremont (definitely Wallingford, definitely not Fremont), I will simply breathe in, hold it, hold it, and now slowly breathe out. Clear mind.

“Our studio focuses on a balanced practice of both vinyasa yoga, a more active style meditation in movement and also yin yoga which gives  our students that ‘working in’ energy that they need, focusing on longer holds and less active poses,” Michael tells me. “We also offer a variety of other classes in meditation, kids yoga, soon to offer barre and more! We believe our classes are for everyone, both those looking for more calm in their life and those looking for a challenging practice that can bring them into the present moment.”

Classes will be offered seven days a week, starting as early as 6 am and continuing until 7:30 pm.

I asked Michael what made this studio unique. He answered “Bala Yoga was built from its community and students. I think thats what truly makes us unique. Each of our students have played a part in the growth and development of the studio and I am sure the same will happen in Fremont. We allow the students to come as they are and leave better for it!”
