Square Dancing and Chili

Jordan Jordan October 3, 2015 Comments are off

15871572329_db09d600e9_zI know, ever since we announced the Chili Cook-Off back in August, you’ve been hard at work, combing through old recipe books, testing spice mixes and consulting shamans, in the hopes of capturing the chili glory. Tomorrow is game day. It’s on!

Vivian writes:

Dusty Strings Dance Band will be playing and calling dances at the 2nd Wallingford Chili Cook Off. Bring the kids and your appetites!

The Second Annual Wallingford Chili Cook Off hosted by Gift of Grace Lutheran Church will be held at 2102 N. 40th St. on Sunday Oct. 4, at noon, rain (indoors) or shine (parking lot), come and eat the best chili in Wallingford or be bold!

Enter your best chili and let four judges (we have Essential Baking Company, Irwin’s Neighborhood Bakery & Cafe, RoRo BBQ & Grill, and a Gift of Grace member) taste and select the most delicious chili which we will serve at GraceFeast Sunday Dinners*. The First Prize Winner gets bragging rights and the prestige of his or her chili to be used in the GraceFeast recipe book and rotating menu (We’ll serve it about every 8-9 weeks). First Prize Winner also receives a Fair Trade gift basket.

If you do not want to enter a chili then just come and eat a free chili meal. We will serve last year’s Award Winning Scorpion Chili (Winning Cook – Dale Levitzke), along with all the entries for this year. Come, feast, enjoy (and dance to) live music provided by Dusty Strings Dance Band, meet your neighbors and find out who will be this year’s winner.

* GraceFeast is a sit down, family style Sunday dinner homemade each week for Wallingford neighbors. Come form genuine community relationships every Sunday (11:45AM) around a delicious meal, prepared free for you.

You will find the “Rules” to enter your chili at www.giftofgrace.org and if you have any questions, you may contact Vivian at 206-795-1220.
