UW Campus Master Planning Kickoff

  • Post author:

UW’s current master plan dates to 2003 and the University is looking to update it. The master plan includes transportation, parking, new buildings, energy needs, and green space. When done there will be an epic Environment Impact Statement plus a pretty map that the university will develop towards.

Interested? UW is kicking off the process this Wednesday from 5:30 to 7:30 at University Temple at 1415 NE 43rd street, and then on Thursday from 12:00 to 2:00 at the Husky Student Union Building, room 340.

The overall schedule will go like this:

  1. Scoping and development of preliminary concepts is going on now until January
  2. The draft plan will be worked on until April of next year
  3. Final plan development will then grind along for a full year and a half, to Winter 2017

If you can’t make the open houses but want to be in the loop, the project site is here.

Eric

I've lived here since 1998. I spent 13 years at Microsoft as a developer and manager, concurrent with Ballmer's reign. I quit after seeing my third consecutive project cancelled, while my parents needed help, and my wife was getting stressed working at Seattle Public Schools. Since then, I have helped family and community while taking on side projects and volunteer work. I led the renovation of Meridian Playground, helped moderate the South Transfer Station design, helped advance the Green Lake Way road diet, and have guided several transportation and parks projects through neighborhood involvement. I wrote for Wallyhood for a while and was president of the Wallingford Community Council during the great recession, where thankfully, land use was not an issue. I'm an impatient moderate vegetarian who believes in practical win-win solutions.
