Counterfeit

counterfeitWatch out, Wallingford retailers: Shana tells us someone tried to add a phoney $100 bill to Archie McPhee’s collection of weird:

It appeared to be a Caucasian woman late twenties with lots of black eyeliner, black hoodie, and rhinestones on her jeans. There was a fellow who waited for her who was tall with a white baseball cap. They didn’t succeed with their ploy with us!

Forewarned is forearmed.

I started Wallyhood back in 2008, right when my son was born, because I realized I had lived in the neighborhood since 1993 and didn't really know my neighbors. I figured writing a blog about what was going on around me would be a good way to meet people and help other people do the same. As the years progressed, those neighbors have picked up the torch and it is now a group effort, which I adore. I moved out of Wallingford for a few years (2020 - 2025), but I'm back, now living with my wife, son and dog (Dillinger) up in Tangletown.

Archie McPhee is one of Walligford’s greatest cultural treasures and a tourist attraction third only to Lower Woodland Skatepark and Dick’s..

Ah, this reminds me. When you come to my nonprofit arts organization and you get all shirty about my not being able to break your 100$ bill, remember this story.
Because the bank doesn’t give me credit for fakes.

Definitely worth investing in a surveillance camera if you are a business. Black eyeliner, hoodie and a guy in a baseball cap only matches like half the people who live in Seattle.
