Green Friday

WCSC_Green_Friday_pdf__1_page_Mary Heim sent us this notice of a great community event going on this Friday, December 11th in the lower level of the Good Shepherd Center (4649 Sunnyside Ave. N):

We’ve survived “Black Friday” and “Cyber Monday” so, in the real spirit of giving and sharing, WCSC invites to you join us for a community pot luck supper and sharing bazaar!

The idea is for our community to come together, celebrate and share their abundance rather than spending so much time and money at the mall. (Roughly based on BuyNothingProject.org but expanded beyond closed Facebook groups.)

Bring a dish to share and any gently used items you would like to give or share with someone else. People will be responsible for removing anything they bring that is not gifted. We will have tables and chairs set up for people to eat and other tables around the room for items to be shared. People may staff the tables with their items if they wish or not.

I started Wallyhood back in 2008, right when my son was born, because I realized I had lived in the neighborhood since 1993 and didn't really know my neighbors. I figured writing a blog about what was going on around me would be a good way to meet people and help other people do the same. As the years progressed, those neighbors have picked up the torch and it is now a group effort, which I adore. I moved out of Wallingford for a few years (2020 - 2025), but I'm back, now living with my wife, son and dog (Dillinger) up in Tangletown.
