Wallingford for FamilyWorks Update

  • Post author:

Last week, we kicked off a fundraising drive for the Wallingford-based food bank and family resource center FamilyWorks. When I talked to Joey over at FamilyWorks, I wasn’t quite sure where to set the goal. After some hemming and hawing, I nervously set it at $3,000.

It just warms my cockles to see that after just one week, and with another month to go, we’re less than $300 away from hitting it!

I’m also very pleased to let you know that Barbara Gordon has been joined by an anonymous Wallingford donor in offering to match $1,000 in donations if we do.

How about a little extra incentive for you to join the drive? We’ll be holding a drawing for a gift bundle donated by Wallingford businesses, and everyone who donates to FamilyWorks as part of this campaign will be entered. Thus far we have:

If you’re a Wallingford business and would like to donate to the gift basket, please let me know! If you’re feeling the big love for FamilyWorks and would like to be the third $1,000 match donor, please let me know!

And if you want to help tip us over our $3,000 goal, please donate now. If you use the link below, your donation will be tracked along with this campaign (and you’ll be entered in the drawing, but I know that’s not why you’re doing it!)

FamilyWorks-donate

And thanks to our business supporters:

I started Wallyhood back in 2008, right when my son was born, because I realized I had lived in the neighborhood since 1993 and didn't really know my neighbors. I figured writing a blog about what was going on around me would be a good way to meet people and help other people do the same. As the years progressed, those neighbors have picked up the torch and it is now a group effort, which I adore. I moved out of Wallingford for a few years (2020 - 2025), but I'm back, now living with my wife, son and dog (Dillinger) up in Tangletown.
