Wow, FamilyWorks Fundraiser Keeps Going!

It’s been such a pleasure to see the neighborhood rally around our local food bank and family resource center, FamilyWorks. So far, 24 of you have joined in the giving campaign towards FamilyWorks, and we’ve reached $4,455, blowing past our goal of  $3,000. That means that the three donors (and yes, we got our third $1,000 match from another anonymous Wallingford neighbor) will be matching the first $3,000 of our campaign, for a total of $7,455 going to FamilyWorks.

Wouldn’t it be amazing if we could keep stretching that up to, dare I dream, $10,000?

A number of new Wallingford businesses have joined Spin’s Barber ShopThe Sweet SideBala Yoga, and Archie McPhee in donating to our prize drawing gift basket:

And all you have to do to enter the drawing is donate to FamilyWorks. Win-win, right?

I started Wallyhood back in 2008, right when my son was born, because I realized I had lived in the neighborhood since 1993 and didn't really know my neighbors. I figured writing a blog about what was going on around me would be a good way to meet people and help other people do the same. As the years progressed, those neighbors have picked up the torch and it is now a group effort, which I adore. I moved out of Wallingford for a few years (2020 - 2025), but I'm back, now living with my wife, son and dog (Dillinger) up in Tangletown.
