The Great Wallingford Wurst Festival – this Friday and Saturday!

Julie Martin Julie Martin September 15, 2016 3 Comments

wurstfestSt Benedict Catholic School is carrying on the tradition of over 30 years of holding its annual fundraiser, The Great Wallingford Wurst Festival, this Friday & Saturday, September 16 & 17, 2016 – rain or shine!

The Wurst Festival is held on the school grounds (between 48th and 49th on Wallingford Ave.), and is a community, family-friendly street fair featuring live music, great food, bouncy houses, a “Game Zone” filled with games for kids with fun prizes, a variety of crafts and vendors, a book fair, a sweet shop and a beer garden.

Admission to the festival is free, with tokens available for purchase for the various activities. From 9 p.m. to midnight, a 21+ NO COVER indoor beer garden opens with a live band and a lively dance floor. This year, the beer garden bands are Dudley Manlove Quartet on Friday and Vote for Pedro on Saturday.

The outdoor main stage entertainment will open with Seattle’s School of Rock on Friday, followed by STRUM, Seattle Civic Band, Market Street Dixie Land Band, and Time and Tide. Kindie rock band Recess Monkey will be featured on the mainstage at 3 p.m. on Saturday. For a full line-up of bands on both days, please visit the Great Wallingford Wurst Festival Facebook page.

Times for this year’s Great Wallingford Wurst Festival are as follows:

  • Friday, September 16 – 4 p.m. to 10 p.m.
  • Saturday, September 17 – 10 a.m. to 10 p.m.
  • Indoor beer garden remains open both nights 9 p.m. to midnight.

Ooh yeah!! We LOVE the Wurst Fest. If you have kids, you will NOT be disappointed. St. Ben’s is a wonderful school and the community there is really great. These are the things that make Wallingford a community and not just a neighborhood. 🙂
