Police Activity on Latona

Jordan Jordan February 20, 2017 3 Comments

Police have NE Latona Ave between 42nd and 43rd blocked off at the moment, and, based on the loudspeaker that can be heard blocks away, they’re trying to get someone named Anthony to come out his house. According to neighbors, the house is 4228 Latona, a group house with a history of problems with the law (including arrests there several years ago.)

At the moment, the police just keep repeating “Anthony, come on out now,” interspersed with offers to help him, questions about his drum set and re-assurances that they only want to help.

2:21 AM Update: Loud explosion just heard.

9:15 AM Update: Promoting this comment from the comments section:

I live at the house located at 4228 Latona Ave NE. I don’t want to give out my real name because of reasons, but wanted to give an update.

Someone renting a room in the house was being threatening and police were alerted. Unfortunately he was not cooperating with the police and it ended up escalating to the point where they had to throw flashbang grenades to get him to finally surrender.

The house is owned by a couple who also own other houses, and they rent out the rooms. Unfortunately that means that not everyone knows each other in the house, among other things. I just want the community to know that the rest of the people in the house are absolutely great law abiding people and that we’re sorry that this unfortunate incident happened and very thankful that no one was hurt

This is occurring behind my house. After the first explosion, I looked outside and both heard and saw a second explosion, a very bright light. It didn’t look or sound like a gunshot.

I heard both bangs. The second for some reason, was crazy loud and echoey. My thought was fireworks under the 5 bridge. Too concussive to be a gunshot. Anyway, glad everyone was OK. Funny thing was I was woken by something just before the first bang – maybe yelling, but I’m not that close to Latona. I can only imagine how loud it was nearby.
