Thundersnowlightningpoweroutage

  • Post author:

A bolt of lightning during our brief afternoon snow flurry struck a power pole in West Wallingford. Seattle City Light crews are on their way to restore power. The outage seems fairly contained, judging from the map.

I started Wallyhood back in 2008, right when my son was born, because I realized I had lived in the neighborhood since 1993 and didn't really know my neighbors. I figured writing a blog about what was going on around me would be a good way to meet people and help other people do the same. As the years progressed, those neighbors have picked up the torch and it is now a group effort, which I adore. I moved out of Wallingford for a few years (2020 - 2025), but I'm back, now living with my wife, son and dog (Dillinger) up in Tangletown.

was the traffic diversion on Bridge Way N… not letting us go past Fremont and on towards Ballard and instead to a no go slow mo north putter up Fremont due to this?

A separate lightening strike on a pole at 39th and Evanston cause blockage of 39th for a while.

BTW, where was the strike in “West Wallingford”?

I am off Stone Way N & 42nd.. the loud noise which knocked off tv & phone for 2-3 minutes sounded like it was next door.

Thanks. I don’t know how many strikes there were, but clearly more than a couple. I’m at 42nd and Baker (Hazel Heights) and about the same time there was a flash and boom with hardly any separation. Power off just long enough to turn off computer and clocks.

That small stretch of Woodland Park Ave N was out of power until 2:30 AM this morning. That made for a really cold night. City Light replaced 2 transformers on both ends of the strip that were knocked out by the lightning.
