Defend Immigrant Rights with The Blue Moon and Floating Bridge Brewing

Jack Jack April 26, 2017 Comments are off

The Northwest Immigrant Rights Project, founded in 1984 with offices in Seattle, Tacoma, Wenatchee and Granger (Yakima county), supports immigrant populations by, according to their website, “defending and advancing the rights of immigrants through direct legal services, systemic advocacy, and community education.” The organization is headed by Seattle attorney Jorge Baron who was recently profiled in this Seattle Times article.

Interested in supporting this organization? How about if you could drink a beer at the same time? Floating Bridge Brewing and the Blue Moon have teamed up to make this happen. They sent us this press release:

What would America be without its immigrants? Empty. And your beer glass would be empty too – brewing also was born abroad.

Join Floating Bridge Brewing and The Blue Moon to support immigrant rights on Sunday, April 30. These University District next door neighbors are hosting events to benefit Northwest Immigrant Rights Project (NWIRP), an organization that defends the rights of immigrants through direct legal services, community education, and systemic advocacy.

Floating Bridge Brewing is donating $1 from each pour, from 1 p.m. to 8 p.m. NWIRP staff will be available 3-6pm to answer questions about the challenges facing immigrants in the Northwest. The brewery tap list features a variety of styles, including IPA, pale ale, and a smoked honey porter. Kids and dogs are welcome.

The Blue Moon, celebrating its 83rd anniversary in April, is showcasing live performances starting at 5 p.m. until midnight. All proceeds from the door cover will be donated to NWIRP.

The Northwest Immigrant Rights Project defends the rights of immigrants through direct legal services, community education, and systemic advocacy that changes unjust immigration policies and practices. NWIRP keeps families together, protects people from violence, and provides new opportunities in work and education. NWIRP recently brought suit against the Trump Administration’s latest travel ban.

The Blue Moon and Floating Bridge Brewing are located on the 700 block of NE 45th St.

Immigrants made America and make America great. Join your neighbors standing up for immigrant rights on April 30.
