Art at Spin

  • Post author:

Spin (Spyridon Nicon) curates a rotating collection of local art on his barber shop walls (4501 Interlake Ave N). Given how often swaps in a new artist and how often I get my hair cut, it’s almost a guarantee that there will be someone new and interesting on the walls each time I head over for a clip.

This month is no exception, and if you’re out for a stroll, and want to enjoy sharp and vibrant prints, you could do worse than popping your head in. You’ll find Mike Klay on the walls, paying homage to the majesty of our Pacific Northwest mountains as well as the fantastic music scene that enjoy.

No haircut is required to enjoy the art, but if you do need a trim, you can enjoy an old-fashioned, friendly candy-cane pole barbershop experience. Walk-ins are welcome, but an appointment will assure you of a seat.

I started Wallyhood back in 2008, right when my son was born, because I realized I had lived in the neighborhood since 1993 and didn't really know my neighbors. I figured writing a blog about what was going on around me would be a good way to meet people and help other people do the same. As the years progressed, those neighbors have picked up the torch and it is now a group effort, which I adore. I moved out of Wallingford for a few years (2020 - 2025), but I'm back, now living with my wife, son and dog (Dillinger) up in Tangletown.
