Rep. Nicole Macri to speak in Wallingford on Wednesday 5/9

Representative Nicole Macri, Wallingford’s representative in the 43rd district, will be speaking at the Wallingford community council meeting tonight, May 9th. She’ll be speaking about affordable housing and ensuring livability with increased density. The community council meeting starts at 7:00 in the Good Shepherd Center, and Nicole is scheduled to speak around 7:30.

The community council meeting also includes officer elections. You must be a member in order to run for the council or vote in the elections, but the meeting is open to all, member or no. Full meeting schedule and details are below.

Program:

6:30 PM – Member Check-in
7:00 PM – Welcome, Miranda Berner
7:15 PM – Elections
7:30/7:45 PM – Rep. Nicole Macri, 43rd District

A few highlights of Rep. Macri’s work:

  • Increasing a revenue source for homelessness programs
  • Expanding access to community mental health services
  • Equal Pay Opportunity Act
  • Fair Chance Act
  • Reproductive Care for All
  • Better monitoring of prescription drugs
  • Banning conversion therapy
  • and more!

Election of Officers

This year we will be electing the President, Vice-President, Treasurer, Secretary, and three At Large Board Members. Nominations will be accepted from the floor. The present list of nominees is:

Vice President: Glenn Singer
Treasurer: Paul Willumson
Secretary: Karen Dalton
At Large Positions:
1: Matt Hallett  /  Emma Notkin
2: Ted Hunter /  Jeff Lindstrom
3: Donn Cave

Reminder: to vote in the election, one needs to be a current member for 2018. Last year, WCC moved to a calendar year membership cycle. If you joined or renewed your membership after November 2017, then your membership is valid for all of 2018. To be eligible to vote in the May election, you must have renewed or joined no later than April 24, 2018.
