Apply for PARK(ing) Day

I make a plea for this every year, but it’s been some time since Wallingford represented: PARK(ing) Day is a cool, city-wide affair in which anyone can take over a slice of street and turn it into a work of art.

I offer you here some random samplings of what other people have done around the country:

Sweet, right? And you can even apply for up to $5,000 in funding for your idea through the city’s Neighborhood Matching Fund program (August 10th application deadline.)

PARK(ing) Day itself is September 21st, 2018, and applications are being accepted up through August 24th. More information on SDOT’s PARK(ing) Day web site.

Seriously, Wallingford, you got this one, right? Let’s throw some ideas into the comments section. I’d happily pitch in some time.

I started Wallyhood back in 2008, right when my son was born, because I realized I had lived in the neighborhood since 1993 and didn't really know my neighbors. I figured writing a blog about what was going on around me would be a good way to meet people and help other people do the same. As the years progressed, those neighbors have picked up the torch and it is now a group effort, which I adore. I moved out of Wallingford for a few years (2020 - 2025), but I'm back, now living with my wife, son and dog (Dillinger) up in Tangletown.
