Dark Money at Meaningful Movies

Jack Jack November 1, 2018 13 Comments

Here’s a reminder that Meaningful Movies which celebrated their 15th year here in Wallingford as we reported back in February, is having their monthly screening this Friday at 7 pm. The location is 5019 Keystone Place N. (Keystone Church), one block North of the Good Shepherd Center, across 50th Street.

Jim writes:

Meaningful Movies in Wallingford screens documentary films on the 1st Friday of each month.  On Nov. 2, we are showing “Dark Money,” which examines the influence of untraceable corporate money on our elections and elected officials.  After the film, we’ll have a community discussion and a guest speaker from Fix Democracy Fix.

Meaningful Movies has been organizing and hosting documentary film events since 2003.  All our events are free, although donations are requested to cover our costs.  Come watch documentaries with your neighbors, learn about local and global topics, share in community discussion, and advocate for change!

Does this movie delve into the nefarious influences of characters like Soros and Bloomberg?

Is that a dog whistle I hear?

        Perhaps you’re a dog?

I think you may not understand the phrase dark money. Dark here means untraceable. It’s a specific term talking about a specific type of political donations.

And? These two characters have been directing money both openly and secretly for years. Their motives are no less ignoble. But for Socialists, the ends justifies the means.

ZOMG SOCIALISTS UNDER MY BED! Or would you prefer ZOG to ZOMG?

My original question was more rhetorical as, has been shown, no one would sensibly address the questions about Soros and Bloomberg money. Clearly the SocialistProgressive crowd would prefer to focus on the mote in the eye of the opposition than the plank in their own group eye.

All that’s been shown is that you opened with an attack commonly used by anti-Semites and then started raving about Socialists. Why should you be treated as though you’re acting in good faith?

Your question is irrelevant to the movie, and I’ve already pointed that out to you. What you are doing is effectively asking people if baseball is boring in a thread about youth soccer.

I think you are showing more topics that you do not understand:

          1. Do you understand what you said is basically proving you are using dog whistle language? What you said is exactly what triggered the Pittsburgh massacre, and is an idea spread by people not knowing the falsehood and possible damages.

          2. Do you understand what’s socialism? Do you realize the public roads are socialist? Do you understand that zoning laws are socialist? The non-socialist alternatives of those are private toll roads and building of anything anywhere. We all have some socialist ideas here and there, just selectively to match what we prefer. Social security and Medicare are obviously socialism also.

          3. You know ends justifying the means is an universal idea that everybody believes in most of the time also? Don’t we all jaywalk once in awhile as long as it impacts nobody?

Enormous jump to conclude my statement was anti-Semetic. You seem to be very up on codes for hate I’ve never heard of. I guess your broad accusatory brush is used on almost everyone who disagrees with you.

Doug also heard it. I ask you again, why should you be treated as though you are acting in good faith?

Sounds to me like you’re trying to say “I’m not anti-semitic, I just think that Jews are secretly controlling the world.” My guess is that you believe you are not anti-semitic, but you are unaware that the whole web of stories about how Soros, Bloomberg and the Rothschilds are secretly funding things like the migrant caravan is part of a deeply anti-semitic worldview, and was created out of the imagination of deeply anti-semitic people.

I would be interested, for personal reasons, in sitting down with you and talking in person about your beliefs around Soros and Bloomberg. I want to understand, from someone who actually believes these things to be true, what it is you believe and why. Please let me know if you’re interested.
