Incident on 2nd

  • Post author:

Out walking tonight, I saw several police cars patrolling the neighborhood, going the wrong way down Latona and up Thackeray until they all seemed to converge up around NE 44th St and 2nd Ave NE. All told, there were eight police cars, a couple of fire trucks and an ambulance.

Geoff posted to our Facebook page:

For anyone who was curious about the convergence of 8 cop cars and 2 fire engines tonight, just south of 44th on 1st Ave., NE., I just walked down there to ask what was up. . . As per an SPD officer, a family member of a resident broke into a house on 1st, assaulted said resident, fled the scene headed east on 44th, broke into another house in an attempt to evade police, and was there apprehended. . . Otherwise, “nothing to see here”. (But fortunately, other than non-fatal wounds suffered by the attacked individual, no one was otherwise wounded).

There were a number of EMT’s around somebody in the backyard of a house at the corner there. I hope everyone turns out alright.

I started Wallyhood back in 2008, right when my son was born, because I realized I had lived in the neighborhood since 1993 and didn't really know my neighbors. I figured writing a blog about what was going on around me would be a good way to meet people and help other people do the same. As the years progressed, those neighbors have picked up the torch and it is now a group effort, which I adore. I moved out of Wallingford for a few years (2020 - 2025), but I'm back, now living with my wife, son and dog (Dillinger) up in Tangletown.
