Garbage

  • Post author:

This week’s snowstorm has thrown garbage pick-up for a loop. I’m pretty used to the standard “if there is a holiday, our Friday morning pickup is delayed to Saturday”, but I have no idea what’s going on in light of our once in a generation snowstorm and the slush fest that followed.

Fortunately, the SPU web site has it all sorted for us:

Monday and Tuesday customers’ collection: Wednesday, Feb. 13
[…]
If your regular collection day is Monday or Tuesday and your garbage was not collected, please bring your bins in from the street and place out for collection next week. You may put out extra garbage at no additional charge.

Recycling and food/yard waste for Monday and Tuesday customers tomorrow will be collected next week (Feb. 18 and 19). Customers may put out double the usual amount of recycling and food/yard waste at no additional charge.

All garbage, recycling, and food/yard waste will be collected for Wednesday customers on Thursday, Feb. 14
If your collection was missed last week, you may put out double the usual amount of recycling and food/yard waste at no additional charge.

All garbage, recycling, and food/yard waste will be collected for Thursday customers on Friday, Feb. 15

Jordan

I started Wallyhood back in 2008, right when my son was born, because I realized I had lived in the neighborhood since 1993 and didn't really know my neighbors. I figured writing a blog about what was going on around me would be a good way to meet people and help other people do the same. As the years progressed, those neighbors have picked up the torch and it is now a group effort, which I adore. I moved out of Wallingford for a few years (2020 - 2025), but I'm back, now living with my wife, son and dog (Dillinger) up in Tangletown.

    Thanks Jordan!

Also, one other option for getting rid of built-up trash, from the article you linked to: taking it to the North Transfer Stations for free (for the 1st 420 lbs.), between Feb. 13th – 16th.

    TRANSFER STATIONS

Seattle residents significantly impacted by delayed pickups may visit
the transfer stations for free Feb. 13-16. Customers must indicate they
are Seattle residents whose solid waste services were delayed
for more than a week. Limit one truck or carload, per household, up to
420 lbs of combined garbage, recycling, and/or food/yard waste. Any
amount over 420 lbs must be paid-with a minimum charge of $30.
