Two small eats notes:

Work is underway at the old Wallyburger on 45th St. When Wallyburger closed back in June, they posted to their Instagram feed that there would another venture in the same space this Fall. Fall is just about upon us, and wandering by the other night, I snapped this photo of the transformation underway inside.

Further east, there’s a new (to us) food truck on 45th. Parked in the lot of Northwest Best Auto Repair (2221 N 45th St), just across from Kabul, the Thai 65 Express is operated by the same owners as the old Thai 65 in the U District.

I spoke the owner, Usa, who told me they were still working out their schedule for walk-up service, but expected to be available to deliver food from the truck six days a week, Tuesday – Sunday, starting immediately. He still wasn’t sure about the exact hours (lunch or dinner), either, but suggested checking their page on Uber Eats to see if delivery is available.

I started Wallyhood back in 2008, right when my son was born, because I realized I had lived in the neighborhood since 1993 and didn't really know my neighbors. I figured writing a blog about what was going on around me would be a good way to meet people and help other people do the same. As the years progressed, those neighbors have picked up the torch and it is now a group effort, which I adore. I moved out of Wallingford for a few years (2020 - 2025), but I'm back, now living with my wife, son and dog (Dillinger) up in Tangletown.
