Three Businesses to Be

Windows around Wallingford promise change.

The “What Will Replace Wallyburger” mystery has been solved:

Turnover will also be coming quickly to Damsel & Hopper’s old spot on Wallingford Ave, in the property owned by Julia’s:

The sign indicates that Juisala will be opening “Mid December”, and Internet sleuthing (OK, typing “juisala” into Google and reading the first page of results) indicates that they’ll be selling smoothies, salads and acai bowls. Their website is still under construction, but breaks bold new territory with a tongue twisting neologism:

We are an ORGANICTARIAN Food and Beverage Company that’s committed to Clean and Organic Food Production and Service. There’s much to see here, and much more to come. This is a work in progress, mahalos for your patience. Take your time, look around, and Enjoy our site. Please take a moment to drop us a line.

Finally, the spot just next door, previously Time Printing (and still owned by Time Printing Inc), the property advertises to be a dance studio:

No date given here, and that sign has been there for months. Studio Azul is operating out of Lake City at the moment.

Now you know what I know.

I started Wallyhood back in 2008, right when my son was born, because I realized I had lived in the neighborhood since 1993 and didn't really know my neighbors. I figured writing a blog about what was going on around me would be a good way to meet people and help other people do the same. As the years progressed, those neighbors have picked up the torch and it is now a group effort, which I adore. I moved out of Wallingford for a few years (2020 - 2025), but I'm back, now living with my wife, son and dog (Dillinger) up in Tangletown.
