Part of 45th St. to Close Over Weekend

As we wrote about back in May, SDOT has been improving the intersection at Midvale Ave and 45th (near Meowtropolitan). The final phase of that work, to take place this weekend, will necessitate closing of part of 45th St.:

SDOT is working towards the completion of Transit Spot Improvements and one of their final elements of this work is to move the overhead trolley wires to match the new road configuration.

King County Metro (KCM) will transfer the wires this weekend, starting July 18. The work will necessitate a Saturday and Sunday detour for both eastbound and westbound traffic. The detour will be in effect between 8 am and 8 pm. Eastbound traffic will be detoured up Green Lake Way N and then east on N 49th St. The westbound detour will guide traffic south onto Stone Way N and west on N 40th St. (See map at bottom.)

As part of this project SDOT in coordination with KCM have been making the following changes:

  • Extending the existing westbound bus-only lane on N Midvale Pl and on N 45th St
  • Relocating the existing crosswalk at N 45th St and N Midvale Pl to N Midvale Pl and Midvale Avenue N, and adding flashing beacons to the crossing
  • Replacing sidewalk and curb ramps to meet ADA standards
  • Concrete paving

It looks like the 44 will be rerouted, but the only stop it will miss is the westbound one in front of The Bounty. I think a temporary stop will be placed in front of Archie McPhee’s.
