Wayward Music in Wallingford – Oct 1

Megan Dulgar Okabayashi Megan Dulgar Okabayashi September 28, 2021 Comments are off
Contributed by Kate Johnson: Flutist and leader, Puget Sounds Wind Quintet

Experience classical music that’s a little off the beaten path…right here in the Wallyhood at the Good Shepherd Center!

In a classical concert that stretches to the contemporary while grounded in approachability, local professional ensemble Puget Sounds Wind Quintet will display the diverse qualities of the winds of the orchestra. Hear the world premiere of Wind Quintet No. 3 by northwest composer David P. Jones, and four other living composer works in the classical contemporary tradition. Selections by Ticheli, Bowyer, Ewazen and Coleman range from “indeterminate” combinations of musical “cells” chosen at the discretion of the performer, to abstract sounds that alternate between angry and lyrical, as well as tonal representations of the natural world and human celebration.
Presented by the Wayward Music Series on Friday, October 1, 2021, at 8:00 p.m. at the Good Shepherd Chapel, Good Shepherd Center, 4649 Sunnyside Ave. N., Seattle WA 98103.
This free concert is sponsored by the Music Performance Trust Fund and the Musicians’ Club of Seattle. Reserve tickets at https://pugetsoundsquintet.brownpapertickets.com. Vaccination proof required for entry.
