Sea Monster Lounge Returns from the Deep with New Owners

Adam December 9, 2021 Comments are off

The Sea Monster Lounge – Seattle’s home for live jazz, funk and soul music

The ever popular Sea Monster Lounge (2202 N. 45th St.) has some exciting news. As of December 7, 2021, The Sea Monster officially “Returns from the Deep” and is ready to start serving drinks and live music! The grand re-opening comes also comes with a change in ownership. But have no fear! Two very familiar faces (Justine Devers & Mark Mattrey) are taking over the reins as co-owners. Keep an eye on their website and social media for the latest details on upcoming shows, announcements, and schedules.

Andrew and Sarah Nunez, who founded The Sea Monster in 2003 and completed a huge expansion and renovation project in 2015, reached out to the community on Facebook and really say it best themselves:

To all my fellow Sea Monsters..

It’s been 18 years!! and an amazing rollercoaster ride filled with the very best community, friends, live music and love..

Thank you with all of my heart for drinking with me, dancing with me and laughing with me.

My parents are to thank for bailing me out many times in those first years while I made mistakes and figured out how to survive and eventually thrive.

Thank you Mom and Dad you gave us all the gift of a chance, otherwise Sea Monster would’ve died a quick death. It really did make a difference in many lives.

The musicians, the community, and the safe place to house them are what has made us.

Thank you there are too many magical nights, people and musicians to mention.. we shared that magic and we are forever connected by it

It is time to pass the torch of the Sea Monster Lounge.

If you’ve been in the Sea Monster you probably already know Justine Devers smiling face. She has been one of my closest friends for about 30 years!!

And the man behind the bar and the bass Mark Mattrey whom I’ve worked with, lived with and performed on stage with for about 25 years!!

They are the new owners of the Sea Monster and it’s still Seattle’s home for live jazz, funk and soul music!

My wife Sarah and I are busy raising two young boys, but when we get a chance to escape for a night we would love to have a drink, share some Sea Monster memories and celebrate with you!

THANK YOU

Love,

Andrew and Sarah
