Wallingford Earth Day Spring 2023 Clean up Event This Saturday!

Julie Martin Julie Martin April 18, 2023 Leave a Comment

On Saturday, April 22nd from 10am-1pm the Wallingford community will have the opportunity to help clean up the neighborhood at two locations. This activity is part of the City of Seattle Adopt A Street program. The Wallingford effort was initiated by Colleen Kurke and her organization Street Keepers inspired by cleanup efforts she has led in the past when involved with the Wallingford Chamber of Commerce.

Colleen will be joined by assistants, Rhonda Bush from Historic Wallingford, and Ted Hunter from the Wallingford Community Council and appreciate sponsorship from these organizations for this event. Thanks to community businesses Dicks, Young Tea and Fuel Coffee for making donations to the event.

The City of Seattle supplies tools, safety vests, bags for cleanup and the pickup of collected debris. They also offer organizational support. The projects consists primarily of litter pick up and sweeping and you are welcome to come and go as you need within the 3 hour period.

Please join Colleen and Rhonda for an effort on N. 45th to sign in at the Art Storm Sculpture at 45th and Wallingford at the northwest corner of the Wallingford Center.

Alternatively join Ted Hunter and friends to work near the Lake Union Shoreline and Burke Gilman Trail and sign in at 3333 Wallingford Ave N—across from the Varsity Inn Restaurant.

If you have questions contact Colleen Kurke, [email protected]. Let’s make this a fun event for the whole community!
