Ravenna Creek Walk

Jack Jack July 21, 2023 Comments are off

The orchard.

The Freeway Estates Community Orchard is a community garden started in 2010. Located east of Green Lake alongside the west edge of I-5 and just south of Ravenna Boulevard, the orchard is known for their annual Cider Fest and Plant Sale. Now, they are sponsoring a guided walk down Ravenna Creek.

The details:

  • Date: Sunday, July 23, 2023
  • Time: 1 pm
  • Meeting place: The orchard, located at 6030 6th Ave NE

We have this description from their Facebook page:

Nancy Helm, retired from the Environmental Protection Agency, will lead a walk from FECO, down Ravenna Creek to its junction with Lake Washington. You will explore ways the original Coast Salish inhabitants interacted with the creek and discuss how we can protect and sustain it. Distance is ~3.5 miles on sidewalks and unpaved paths. We will return via light rail to the Roosevelt Station.
