On the Brink of May at the Wallingford Community Senior Center

The Wallingford Community Senior Center opens May with a slate of varied activities for folks of all ages. All events are at, or meet up at the Wallingford Community Center- 4649 Sunnyside Ave. N. Ste 140, Seattle WA  98103.

Cinema Termite Presents: Sorcerer

Wednesday, May 1, 1:30 to 3:30 pm

Sorcerer is a 1977 American action thriller film, starring Ray Schneider. The plot depicts four outcasts from varied backgrounds meeting in a South American village, where they are assigned to transport cargoes of aged poorly kept dynamite that is so unstable that it is “sweating”—its dangerous basic ingredient is nitroglycerin.  Free.

Death Café

Tuesday, May 7, 6:00 to 8:00 pm

Death Café is back at WCSC! A Death Cafe is where people, often strangers, gather to eat cake, drink tea and discuss death. The objective is to increase awareness of death with a view to helping people make the most of their lives. This will be a group directed discussion of death with no agenda, objectives or themes. It is a discussion group rather than a grief support or counseling session. Free RSVPs required. Monday May 27 is cancelled due to the holiday.

Melinda’s Display Presentation

Wednesday, May 8, 2:30 to 3:30 pm

Melinda Hannah, a local architectural artist will be here to talk about her art, her love of historical buildings, and her pet portraits. Please join us. This is a free event.

 

Mother’s Day Brunch

Tuesday, May 14, 1:00 to 12:45 pm

Let’s celebrate mothers and children, family and friends! Enjoy a special brunch menu and good conversation! Normal lunch prices apply, $5 members, $7 non-members. RSVPs appreciated.

 

Scarecrow Presents: Double Indemnity

Wednesday May 15, 1:30 to 3:30 pm

Double Indemnity is a 1944 American crime thriller film noir directed by Billy Wilder, co-written by Raymond Chandler. The film stars Fred MacMurray as an insurance salesman, Barbara Stanwyck as a provocative housewife and Edward G Robinson as a claims adjuster. The title refers to a double indemnity clause, Starring Fred MacMurray, Barbara Stanwyck and Edward G. Robinson. Free

Friday, May 17, 2:30 to 3:30 pm

After her popular senior sexuality presentation last year, Austin is back to chat about effective communication! Delve into practical strategies and insights designed to enrich your relationships and refine your communication prowess with a warm touch. Join us as we explore topics such as setting boundaries, refining listening skills, and nurturing deeper connections. Free, RSVPs appreciated.

Woodland Park Zoo

Thursday May 23, 1:00 to 4:00 pm

Lions and tigers and bears, oh my; and penguins too! Join us for a trip to the Woodland Park Zoo to see these animals and more.

Members $2.00 Non-members $4.00 This includes admission and ride from WCSC. This event is currently full, but you can call to be put on the standby list. Please sign up for our e-news on the home page of our website to get the news earlier!
