The 3rd Annual One Seattle Day of Service will take place this Saturday, May 18. From the Day of Service website:

Joining together a diverse group of public, private, and non-profit partners and community organizations, we will provide a wide array of service opportunities including cleaning and beautification, gardening and restoration, helping neighbors in need, and more.

Wallingford-area events:

  • Woodland Park Beautification from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Description: Litter pick, shrub bed weeding and mulching
  • Sensory Garden Beautification sponsored by Friends of the Seattle Sensory Garden from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Currently full!
  • Friends of the Troll’s Knoll Fremont Mural and Street Beautification from 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Currently full!
  • University District YMCA – Morning Community Outreach Event from 9:30 am – 1:00 pm. Description: The University Family YMCA has been a supporter of the U-District Street Fair for many years. We will be running the Kids Area again including offering a variety of fun activities for families. Just a few are a coloring station, arts and crafts, giant sized games like connect 4 and Jenga, and bean bag toss. We’re looking for enthusiastic volunteers to help us run some of these activities and it is sure to be a fun filled weekend! Minimum age to volunteer is 14 and volunteers will need to sign a liability waiver to participate.
  • U District Advocates – Afternoon Community Outreach Event from 1:00pm – 4:00pm. Description: Join us for a fun event talking to people and helping them vote with a ping pong ball. We will need 3 shifts of 6 people each.

There are also additional opportunities in the U-District. The number of spots available for some of these opportunities is quite limited, so if you’re interested, you should sign up now.

You’ll find more information and a link to sign up at the Day of Service website.
