Frelard Tamales is Moving to Fremont

Daniel Daniel May 24, 2024 1 Comment

Frelard Tamales will be moving soon to 106 N 36th St. in Fremont. For the past nine years Frelard has been serving tamales from its store located near the corner of Latona and 65th. If you have ever been there, you’ll know you place your order from the window at the Latona location. Since that has become iconic to the store, they are taking the window with them to the new location. No exact date has been set for the move but it will be sometime this summer depending on getting all the right permits in place.

The new location will have seating for 80 people and will combine the owners’ other business, the El Sueñito Brewing Company of Bellingham. Tamales and beer sounds like a great combination!

I ordered 3 tamales for our lunch one afternoon. They are large and delicious. Its Fremont location will have a broader menu and along with serving their own beer and cocktails.

Frelard has a policy of providing a free lunch to anyone in need. When I visited there were two people in front of me receiving meals. This started during the Covid pandemic and has continued. The restaurant has been a good neighbor in this community and now it will continue that at its new location.

The Bellingham location with the Frelard/Suenito combination is such a cool place. Fremont is getting a good one. Remember that Aslan Brewing is a couple blocks down, which is also a Bellingham institution.
