New Independent Pharmacy at Wallingford Center

Cascadia Pharmacy Opens at Wallingford Center

After a series of Pharmacy closings leaving the neighborhood wondering what the path forward looked like, we have some good news! Cascadia Pharmacy, a new independent pharmacy, is opening in the former Pharmaca/Medly space inside the Wallingford Center. It belongs to a group of independent pharmacies across Washington, Oregon, and Idaho, all called Cascadia, but independently owned.

In addition to pharmacy services, Cascadia Pharmacy Wallingford will offer many of the supplements and homeopathic products that the former Pharmaca at the same location carried, as well as specialty gifts, with a focus on locally sourced gift and snack items. The shop will open on June 1, with the pharmacy to follow later this summer, as soon as insurance contracts are approved.

About the Owners:

Co-owners and pharmacists, Christina Lee and Vicky Chu were both former Pharmaca employees. Vicky was the manager when Pharmaca made the decision to closed. Vicky and Christine both currently work at an another Pharmaca location in Madison park and when they heard that Bartells had closed in Wallingford, they knew they had to bring a pharmacy back to the Wallingford Center. Christine told Wallyhood “As pharmacists, we are shocked at how things have played out in the last couple of years with the big chains and we want to bring back that sense of trust and care that a pharmacy should provide. We belong to a larger group of independent chain pharmacies and we do have a third owner who has advocated his entire professional career in promoting independent pharmacies”.

Vicky Chu, Cascadia Pharmacy Co-Owner

Vicky is a dedicated community pharmacist with over 25 years of experience in retail pharmacy. Her passion for immunizations, advancing clinical community pharmacy, and promoting holistic and preventative healthcare drives her dedication to helping people lead healthier lives. Originally from Canada, Vicky graduated from the University of British Columbia, where she cultivated her expertise in pharmaceutical care. As a trusted healthcare professional, she takes pride in being a valuable source of knowledge for her community. Outside of her professional pursuits, Vicky finds joy in cooking, exploring new destinations through travel, working out, and cherishing quality time with her husband and two daughters. Her diverse interests and commitment to both her profession and family define her balanced and fulfilling life.

Christine grew up and has lived in the greater Seattle area for over 35 years, She is a UW grad (both undergrad and pharmacy

school) and lives in North Seattle with her husband and two young and very energetic children. Christine has as always worked in community pharmacy and is passionate about empowering, promoting, and cultivating a sense of trust between her and the people that come to the pharmacy. Outside of pharmacy, she enjoys cooking, traveling and doing all the fun PNW things (when her family isn’t at parks, playgrounds, TBall, Soccer, farmers markets, and eating at all our favorite restaurants in Seattle!).
