More good news for the Wallingford community – Fremont Community School’s Childcare Center

More good news for the Wallingford community – Fremont Community Schools Childcare center recently celebrated their one-year anniversary!  Located in lower Wallingford, under the leafy branches of an American Sycamore tree, we are happy to announce that our program has spots available for babies and toddlers between the ages of 4 – 30 months. Our center is inspired by Waldorf Education and focuses on compassion, imagination and helping children grow positive social connections.  We are play-based and provide children with time outside as much as possible. We provide high quality food and serve largely organic, vegetarian snacks and meals each day.  Our school community is a joyous environment where children, families and teachers feel loved, cared for, and supported.

If you are looking for a nonprofit child care center that provides a positive environment for children to grow and learn, then we are the right fit for you.  We are open Monday through Friday from 7:30am- 5:30pm.

Fremont Community School also has a dynamic morning preschool program at their Orchard location. Orchard provides families with a perfect transition from childcare to preschool, starting at 2.5 years old. Our focus is play-based education that is outdoors in our orchard garden, rain or shine. Please go to our website for full descriptions of our programs.

Under the banner of “Two Schools, One Community” we have a partnership with the neighboring preschool called Tara’s Tots. Between these two locations, which share a fence line, we are able to offer families a flexible eight hour preschool day. For more information, call 206.708.7063

I have been a Waldorf Early Childhood Teacher for 40 years. After graduating in a Master's Degree in Waldorf Education in England, I moved back to Seattle and taught at the Seattle Waldorf School. I also taught at the Brighton Steiner School in England, and at the Whidbey Island Waldorf School, before I started the preschool at Fremont Community School (FCS), which is now located in Lower Wallingford. I have been the Lead Teacher and Director of FCS since 2001. In June 2023 FCS opened the first fully licensed, Waldorf-inspired, Child Care Center in Seattle, serving children from birth to five years old. In my free time I am a proud member of the Seattle Mosaic Arts studio. I have lived in Wallingford for almost 40 years.
