Show Your Support for Lincoln High School Football

lbush September 18, 2024 Comments are off

Just 5 years ago Lincoln High School in Wallingford re-opened and today the school is thriving with over 1700 students, 1200 student athletes, including earning a state baseball championship and a boy’s state soccer title.  Additionally, this growth puts the school into the Class 4A Washington State bracket, providing an even more competitive level of competition.

In addition to developing student athletes, members of the various sports teams can be seen off the field out in the community supporting neighborhood activities.  For example, the cheerleaders participated in the Wallingford parade this year and members of the football team have participated in the neighborhood cleanup in past years.

Most recently, members of the football team volunteered on August 28 at Food Lifeline. They packed ~ 10,000lbs of apples, and sorted 67,500 tea bags to serve our local community food banks.  As seen by the example photos, not only were they providing a valuable service to the community and building character, but they were also having fun doing it.

The football team always appreciates support from not only family and friends, but also the Wallingford community.  Currently, Lincoln High School does not have its own football stadium or practice fields in our neighborhood.  Thus many, but not all, of their home games are played at Memorial Stadium, which is a fun place to spend a Friday night under the lights enjoying football!

The football team exhibits a competitive spirit on the field participating in a highly competitive league.  This past Friday, sept 13th, the team had an impressive come from behind 42-29 win against Lakeside Seattle.   Under the tutelage of Head Coach Tony Slater, the team is learning good sportsmanship as evidenced by the below photo.  This is especially important as the football program continues to grow.  Currently the football program has 68 athletes covering the Varsity and JV teams.

The upcoming football team’s schedule is given below.

Date Opponent Home/Away
Friday, Sept 20 Franklin Home (Memorial Stadium)
Friday, Sept 27 West Seattle Away
Friday, Oct 4 Nathan Hale Home (NWAC)
Friday, Oct 11 Ingraham Away
Friday, Oct 18 Cleveland Home (NEAC)
Friday, Oct 25 Chief Sealth Away

The football program needs support from our community and local businesses to sustain growth. Support from businesses can provide the athletes with equipment (uniforms, scoreboards, team laptops, weight room supplies, balls, nets, pumps).  For example, the team jerseys are currently 5 years old.  Additionally, your support will cover the athletic trainer and postseason travel expenses for teams and coaches.

Please consider supporting the football team and athletics department with a financial contribution.  If any local businesses would like to support the team they can reach out to the parent volunteer leads: Marla Aginian at [email protected] or Camille Yocum at [email protected].    The community can also donate directly to https://cheddarup.com/c/lhsfootball/items?cart.

We greatly appreciate and thank the current business supporters:

Platinum Sponsor: Marketime Foods;

Additional Sponsors:  Arc Riot Printing, Olympia Pizza and Spaghetti House and University Tutoring.

Please also support the team by attending the games and cheering on our Lynx as they fight for victory!  Together, we can make this a season to remember and set the stage for future seasons.  Go Lynx!
