You’re invited to Fremont Community School’s annual open house!

Fremont Community School is thrilled to host our annual Open House on Sunday, January 12, from 10 AM to noon! The event will kick off at our charming Preschool location, The Orchard, at 3530 Interlake Ave. N. After a warm welcome and introduction, we’ll take a short stroll across the street to visit our licensed childcare center, Sycamore, for a closer look at our facilities and programs. This is a wonderful opportunity to meet us, explore our learning spaces, and discover what makes Fremont Community School such a special place for children to grow and thrive.

What Makes Fremont Community School Unique?
At Fremont Community School, we believe that children learn best when they are connected to the world around them. That’s why our programs embrace a deep connection to nature, allowing children to explore, discover, and play outdoors in all kinds of weather—rain or shine.

After their outdoor adventures, children are welcomed back inside with a warm, homemade, organic, vegetarian lunch, lovingly prepared to nourish their bodies and fuel their curiosity. What truly sets us apart is our commitment to play-based education. Unlike traditional preschools and childcare centers, we empower children to learn and grow at their own pace through play. This holistic approach nurtures their head, heart, and hands, fostering creativity, resilience, and a lifelong love of learning. At Fremont Community School, we don’t just teach—we inspire.

If you’d like to join us, please RSVP to [email protected]. We can’t wait to meet you!

I have been a Waldorf Early Childhood Teacher for 40 years. After graduating in a Master's Degree in Waldorf Education in England, I moved back to Seattle and taught at the Seattle Waldorf School. I also taught at the Brighton Steiner School in England, and at the Whidbey Island Waldorf School, before I started the preschool at Fremont Community School (FCS), which is now located in Lower Wallingford. I have been the Lead Teacher and Director of FCS since 2001. In June 2023 FCS opened the first fully licensed, Waldorf-inspired, Child Care Center in Seattle, serving children from birth to five years old. In my free time I am a proud member of the Seattle Mosaic Arts studio. I have lived in Wallingford for almost 40 years.
