The Center of the Universe is about to burst with creativity and community spirit as the Fremont Solstice Parade and Fair returns for its 34th year this weekend, June 21-22. This iconic Seattle celebration promises to kick off summer with artistic flair, bringing together thousands of locals and visitors for two days of artistry, music, and Fremont magic.
The Solstice Parade: Where everyone can be an artist
The heart of the celebration is the 34th Annual Fremont Solstice Parade, produced by the Fremont Arts Council, which starts Saturday, June 21 at 1:00 p.m. This isn’t your typical parade; it’s a community-powered event that embodies Fremont’s free-spirited creativity.
What makes it special?
- Full participation is open to the public – everyone can be an artist
- People-powered only – no motorized vehicles allowed (except electric wheelchairs)
- No printed words or logos – pure artistic expression
- No animals except service animals
The parade kicks off at 3rd and Leary Way, continues along 36th Street, then turns right on N 35th Street, finishing near the iconic Fremont Rocket and the Seattle Art Cars display inside the Fair grounds (see map for more details). Expect to see more than 60 community-based ensembles featuring giant puppets, stilt walkers, elaborate floats, dancers, cyclists, and musicians in this kaleidoscope of joyous human expression.
The Unofficial Solstice Cyclists
Adding to the parade’s legendary status are the unofficial Solstice Cyclists, who traditionally start the festivities with their famous painted bike ride. According to the Seattle Bike Blog, participants should arrive on Northlake Way in front of Gas Works Park, painted and ready to go by 12:30 p.m. sharp. Volunteers painted like National Park Rangers will guide riders to the parade entrance ahead of the official 1 p.m. start.

The Fremont Fair: Seattle’s biggest summer welcome party
After the parade, the celebration continues at the Fremont Fair, which takes over six city blocks in Fremont. This summer tradition offers something for everyone:
Music & Entertainment
Two all-free stages will feature live, local, and touring acts throughout the weekend. The Kona Big Wave Stage will showcase the region’s top funk and rock bands, while the Reyka Vodka Stage will keep the summer vibes moving. Don’t miss the spontaneous buskers scattered throughout the fairgrounds: from chalk artists and musicians to magic acts and jugglers.
Food & Drink
Toast to summer in Fremont’s largest outdoor beer gardens with Kona Beer and Reyka Vodka cocktails. The fair features a diverse array of food vendors and local eats to fuel your festival experience.
Shopping & Art
Browse through 300+ craft vendors in the craft market, featuring handmade goods and local art that capture the unique spirit of Fremont.
