It’s not often that Wallyhood hears from a Research Scientist at the UW about a party (about once a year, as it happens), and this week, we did!
If you’re not feeling the crowds and chaos of Seafair at Gas Works this 4th of July, Wallingford’s got a very patriotic alternative, just a few blocks away.
Loren Kinman and fellow quizmasters are back with The Constitutional Quiz (yes, that one you may have heard on NPR or spotted on KIRO 7). The quiz is back for its 23rd year of red, white, and true Constitutional fun. For just 10 cents, you get one question about the U.S. Constitution. Answer it correctly and you’ll be rewarded with the most American of prizes: an ice-cold beer.
It’s part civic engagement, part neighborhood tradition, and full-on neighborly fun.
Find it at 3428 Woodlawn Avenue N, right across from the North Transfer Station. The event will be held all afternoon on the 4th, so come test your Constitutional knowledge and toast to the Founding Fathers!
And even if you don’t win a beer, at least you’ll walk away a little smarter.

The Constitution? Is that still a thing?
I will be there to support this long-standing tradition!
If you happen to be a constitutional scholar (or law student, or recent naturalized citizen who has actually read the constitution), you can compete for the GRAND PRIZE – a genuine Donald Trump 250 gram fireworks 'cake' from 2024 – a collector's item!
