Back to School Survival Kits 💐

  • Post author:

As families begin to send their children back to school (their summer labor on the family farm is no longer needed 😉), the list of to-do’s grows about as long as my 5-year old’s record number of questions asked in an hour. I’ve lost count.

Among the preparations might be the desire to recognize the hard work the teachers (or anyone else who could use some extra love right now!) will inevitably put into the coming school year. Now THEY get to dodge all the questions!

If a symbolic gesture for these heroes in our lives is on your radar, consider gifting a “Teacher Survival Kit,” a small gift bundle that includes gorgeous, locally grown flowers. Lauren White, mother of two small children and proud owner of new flower business Bay View Flower Farm, is kicking it all off with this adorable, simple concept. Win the hearts of teachers and give them something they’ll actually love? Yes please!

This and future offerings in her own words:

Hello neighbors!

My name is Lauren White. I live in Tangletown with my husband, two daughters, and doggo child. Earlier this year, we purchased a lovely piece of land in Skagit Valley overlooking Padilla Bay, and I’ve been working hard to turn it into a flower farm. I am thrilled to announce that we are ready to open for business!

As an initial offering, we are selling back-to-school “survival kits” to help teachers (or anyone else) get through the first week of school. Each kit contains a small bouquet of seasonal flowers and a gift bundle with coffee, chocolate, hand sanitizer, etc. As my older daughter prepares to start kindergarten this year, I am feeling especially grateful for all of the amazing teachers and support staff who touch our kids’ lives. Let’s show them some love as a new school year kicks off. Scroll down for details.

We have many other exciting things in the works as well!

Over the next few weeks, we will launch sign-ups for local fall/winter workshops and a cozy “winter comfort” 5-month subscription box series. We are also preparing a 1908 cottage and 1965 Airstream at the flower farm to be charming Airbnbs, available in the new year. Starting in spring 2026, we will begin hosting workshops at the farm and launch seasonal flower subscriptions for specialty flowers such as dahlias, ranunculuses, and tulips. Add yourself to our email list to learn more.

I am excited for folks to be able to experience the beauty of the flower farm firsthand!

I truly believe that flowers possess an inherent power to foster connection, uplift spirits, and remind us of the beauty in this crazy world. Please join us as we get started and follow along!
