Now that it is August, I want to give the Wallingford community a heads-up on upcoming events taking place at Gas Works Park. The first one, in early August, is the Fred Hutch Obliteride, which features a Friday Night Party on August 8th, and the ride itself on Saturday, August 9th.
Obliteride is Fred Hutchison Cancer Center’s summer bike ride and 5K walk/run fundraiser. It is a welcoming and supportive community united in its efforts to cure cancer faster. Every dollar raised supports cancer research at Fred Hutch and honors the strength and resilience of all those who have or have had cancer.
There are a variety of ways to be part of Obliteride. You can walk the 5K with your family or friends, ride your bike, sign up virtually and complete your own activity from wherever you are, or simply donate. Or perhaps you’d like to volunteer. However you choose to get involved, you’ll feel the heart and dedication of this passionate community, thousands of people who are united to raise money for new discoveries in cancer prevention, detection, and treatment.
When you sign up, you can choose to raise funds for the work you care about most—for example, a particular Fred Hutch doctor, or research on a specific type of cancer. Discounted registration (50% off) is available to any participant who has or has had cancer when they use the code JUST4ME25.
Key Obliteride 2025 event details are listed below. If you have any questions, you may email the Obliteride team or call 206.667.RIDE (7433).
