Join the fun at Murphy’s Pub on September 14th from 4:30-6:30 pm with Historic Wallingford’s Roaring Twenties Speakeasy Cocktails and Canapes. Last year’s event was a blast—check out the photos.
There will be a twist to the entertainment this year, with a nod to the interest in spiritualism that was prevalent in the 1920s, including Ouija boards, Magic 8 Balls, and tarot readings by Evan J. Peterson. An appearance of Spencer Gordon’s Ford Model A Phaeton vintage car and music by Milo Petersen & Elizabeth Perera will add to the fun. And there will be dancing (the Charleston and other period dances), appetizers, cocktails, and the opportunity to dress up in Roaring Twenties attire! A silent auction will be the primary fundraising effort at this event to support the community activities led by Historic Wallingford. Support felt through auction donations from neighborhood businesses, organizations, and individuals is heartwarming, and Historic Wallingford wants to sing the praises of these groups. Consider it your opportunity to do a little early holiday shopping?

Wallingford feels to many like a hometown, with mom-and-pop stores contributing to the sense of community that we cherish. Here are five photos to put faces on some of these places and say a huge “thank you” to all auction donors for their generosity and hard work.
No event would take place without volunteers, and this one was developed by a star group: Patti Gray Whann, Ron Waldman, Cheryl Waldman, Pamela Singer, Rhonda Bush, Tyson Baty, Larry Bush, and Jori Bercier, plus more volunteers will help at the event.
And finally, a thank you to Historic Wallingford sponsors JAS Design Build, Luna Kitchen and Bath, Ivar’s, Kidd Valley, and Verity Credit Union. This event is supported by 4Culture.
