Seattle Saver Magazine Connects Neighbors and Local Businesses

Wallingford neighbor Amy Malkin would like to introduce the community to a new business initiative she has started and submitted the following.

Seattle Saver is a new neighborhood print magazine connecting Wallingford and Fremont residents with local businesses.

Founder Amy Malkin and her family have lived in Wallingford for five years, and her husband also grew up in Wallingford on Eastern Avenue. With roots in the neighborhood, Amy wanted to create something that helps local businesses thrive while reminding residents how many great shops and services there are right here in Wallingford and Fremont.

Amy was inspired to launch Seattle Saver after hearing the same message from both sides: small businesses struggling to reach nearby customers, and neighbors wanting to shop local but sometimes just needing a reminder—or a compelling reason—to do so. Although direct mail is an effective option for small businesses to connect with local customers, it is also an expensive one. Seattle Saver makes it more affordable for small businesses to reach customers in the community.

In an age when electronic inboxes are overflowing, there’s something refreshing about discovering local options in your mailbox. Everyone still checks the mail, and print advertising continues to outperform digital channels. In fact, according to the Data & Marketing Association, direct mail delivers the highest return on investment of any marketing channel, even more than email and social media.

Beyond connecting neighbors and businesses, Seattle Saver aims to add real value to the community, highlighting neighborhood news, local events, and featuring area non-profits and community groups doing good work in Wallingford and Fremont. Look for the first quarterly issue of Seattle Saver in time for the holidays—delivered to 16,000 mailboxes across Wallingford and Fremont.

If you’re a local business looking to reach more customers, or a community group interested in being featured, Amy would love to connect. Seattle Saver has already partnered with several great local businesses, like Lake Union Hot Tub Boats, Emerald City Fitness, Hamsa Restaurant, and Pacific Northwest Shop, among others, but there’s still room to participate. For costs and other information or questions, reach out to Amy at 206.307.2452 or by email.
