Update: The house damaged in the fire is located at 3626 Corliss Avenue N. The garage at the back of the house is on N Pacific Street.
A mid-morning house fire adjacent to 2326 N Pacific Street, between Sunnyside and Corliss, prompted a large response of emergency vehicles and the closure of a block or so of Pacific for about an hour this morning. When I passed by on the BGT on my bike at 10:30 am, there were about half a dozen fire trucks, and a couple of police cars were maintaining the closure of Pacific. Eastbound traffic was being directed down to Northlake while westbound traffic was being sent up Sunnyside. I asked an officer on foot if there was a house fire, and she said she had “no idea.”
When I passed by again at around noon, Pacific was back open, and a fire truck was still mopping up what was clearly a house fire. I had seen a Puget Sound Energy (the gas company) van at the scene earlier, and it was gone at noon. I also saw a gurney being wheeled around the street when the scene was active, although no one was on it. Beyond that, I have no information about cause or injuries.
I thought I saw some cameras belonging to our “news partners.” By this, I mean the professional news gatherers who actually get the full scoop, whom we then link to. Indeed, KIRO has some details. They report no one home at the time, and no injuries.
