Wallingford
Cathy Tuttle has lived in Wallingford for more than 35 years. She is a project manager and community organizer running for Seattle City Council. She has been a member of the IATSE and the United Brotherhood of Carpenters. After completing her PhD in Urban Design & Planning at the UW, Cathy worked for Seattle Parks, leading the development of 40 parks and community centers, and for the Seattle Planning Commission with Richard Conlin. Cathy started and led several environmental nonprofits including Sustainable Wallingford.

Wallyhood writer Cathy Tuttle provided the following update on the trees of N. 40th St.:

The City Arborist will talk about plans for the trees on 40th at the next Wallingford Community Council meeting, Wednesday Nov. 7 at 7 pm, room 202 Good Shepherd Center.

Wallyhood neighbors love the beautiful old oak trees lining N 40th St., so naturally many people were concerned to see signs go up a few weeks ago on the trees from the Seattle Department of Transportation (SDOT).  After many neighbors called SDOT, SDOT wrote an FAQ.

I live close to N 45th so I don’t walk very often across N 40th or N 50th. I cross only when I’m taking the 26 bus or when I’m walking down to Gasworks or up to Green Lake. People I know who live on either side of 40th or 50th say they usually have a hard time crossing the street.
