Alas, we will be one of the last branches to reopen, due to tight spaces (hard to social distance) and other challenges with keeping patrons and staff safe and healthy. The Wallingford team misses the community and our regulars very much, and we are currently working at nearby locations.

So where can you get your library fix? You have many great options.

If you are in need of …

This weekend the Wallingford Library is hosting a Teen Scavenger Hunt.

This Sunday, August 4, bring your friends to the Wallingford Library for a super fun time!

Teams will be sent out into the community seeking to capture photo images from a scavenger hunt list. The first team to complete the list, or the team that gathers the most photos in the allotted time, will win prizes!

Teens are to bring their own digital camera or phone capable of taking up to 60 photos. We also recommend comfortable shoes, sun block, hat, water bottle, and a spirit of fun and …

We had so much fun last year, we are doing it again: Books and Ice Cream!

This Sunday, June 23, from 2 to 3:30 p.m., bring teens to the Wallingford Library for a celebration of two of the best parts of summer: icy-cold floats and summer reading!

Middle School Meetups During Early Release Wednesdays

dawnoftheread April 28, 2019 1 Comment

Recently, staff from Seattle Public Library went to Hamilton Middle School to find out what students wanted in an afterschool program just for them. Overwhelmingly, we discovered that more than anything else, kids just want an opportunity to just hang out with each other and talk. A close second was an interest in doing crafts or making things.

So, for the first four early release Wednesdays this May, 3-4:30pm, we will be hosting Snack, Chat, Make in the Solid Ground meeting room (across the hall from the food bank). We will provide a different fun, low key activity each week …

Sewing for Tweens & Teens

dawnoftheread January 14, 2019 Comments are off

The Wallingford Library is hosting two fun sewing programs this month.

The first is an old school hand sewing class, Sew Cute, in which participants will sew tiny felt creatures and learn the basics of hand stitching. This will take place Sunday January 20th from 1-4pm.

The second is a bit more high tech. Sewing Circuits will have students using a sewing machine to integrate circuitry into fabric. End products will light up! This takes place on Wednesday January 30 from 1-4pm (Seattle Public Schools are on break this day).

Both classes are FREE. All materials are provided. No registration …
