Change expert and Revolve You founder Julia Claeys Freeland recommends organizational leaders stop trying to manage change and start actively modeling what it looks like to engage in change.

In her new book, Take Your Shoes Off First, Freeland shares principles to help individuals and corporate teams bridge divides between colleagues, cultivate inclusion and accelerate innovation in our dramatically different world.

“To change the world, we must first change ourselves. This means engaging in change, not just managing it. When we shift our perspective and challenge our beliefs, we make room for different and open the door to new …

Fighting Poster Blight

Nancy Treder May 6, 2016 33 Comments

I don’t know about you, but the sight of deteriorating posters on the telephone and public utility poles in Wallingford drives me crazy. One man’s advertising is our neighborhood’s blight.  I just think of the broken window theory every time I see the old posters hanging from poles. I’ve even taken the time to go out and peel off the 1-2″ thick layer of posters with my kids.  They thought it was fun.

Needles

Nancy Treder April 10, 2016 6 Comments

A few days ago, I was out running and found some discarded needles on the sidewalk. Turns out, I’m not alone. Jennifer Davis posted to the Wallingford / Fremont Facebook group that she’s found needles in the Wallingford Park Wading Pool:

Head’s up: I found a hypodermic needle mixed in with other junk at the Wallingford Playground’s wading pool yesterday. Near the benches. I know a lot of parents let their kids climb that hill/trails or simply play over there (that’s exactly what I was doing, my two babies were playing there) so please keep an eye out!

And then …
