Golden Olive

A couple weeks back, we ran a piece by Rory extolling Golden Olive, the Greek restaurant on 45th (1712 N 45th St). Despite having lived in this neighborhood for close to two decades, we'd never been, so we decided to check it out. We considered it a good sign that when we Twittered that we were going, three Wallyhood readers (@aviel, @jonLiechty and @bitterbiscuit) all sent tweets back immediately applauding our choice. The short report: excellent food, well worth the trip…

Garage Sales / Open Houses in Wallingford / Green Lake

As we do each week, My Green Lake and Wallyhood present you with a handy map of the garage sales and open houses going on in our neighborhoods this weekend. If you've got something going on and want it listed, be sure to drop us a line. Lettuce Link is a project of Solid Ground that will harvest your fruit and distribute it to…

Bella Cosa Unbound

We fogged the glass of the shuttered Bella Cosa this evening long enough to wave over Alex and Jared, who pushed aside enough debris to allow us to get a stroller (and a curious stroller pusher) through the door. The good news is that the remodel is fully underway. They've knocked down walls, torn out fixtures, exposed ceilings and wiring and are fully on their way to a fully featured restaurant. The floorplan calls for a kitchen open to the dining…

Mayoral Poll

Readers had a great conversation in the comments section of the our recent Bag Tax post that briefly touched on the mayoral race. Since the deadline for mailing in ballots in this Tuesday, August 18th, we thought it might be a good time to ask you all who you're planning to vote for, if you don't mind sharing. Honestly, we're still undecided, and could use some opinions to help make up our mind. There's a poll below, please vote only once,…
