A week or so back, the Wallyhoods were taking a stroll through Lower West Wallingford (LoWeWa), when we passed an interesting house for sale. It was new construction with unusual ornateness to it, including, as we fogged the front windows, a glass ball on the banister. A few weeks back we mentioned that Wide World Books and Maps changed ownership. In the post, we implied (because we thought) that the reason it was sold was that it was in trouble financially. Turns out it's doing quite well, thank you very much, the old owner was simply looking to retire (or at least "enter a new phase" in life), and was planning to close it if it couldn't be sold. We're just absolute suckers for yard sales, garage sales, or, as we used to call 'em Back East, tag sales. It's not the buying, it's the rummaging.
