Milk Carton Derby

While we're obviously big boosters of the Kiddie Parade, it's worth mentioning that there is another option for entertainment in the 'hood this coming Saturday morning: the Milk Carton Derby at Greenlake. Over 100 crafts deriving their buoyancy from milk cartons will be competing for $10,000 in prize money starting at 10 am. Struck with disbelief? Behold! And let's not forget that it's a charitable event, as well: Northwest Harvest and Seafair are partnering to collect food and financial donations at…

Skullduggery

Sounds like the usual spate of door-to-door case-the-joint scams are making their way to Wallingford. Ed writes: Comcast scam - a couple of young men, one wearing a yellow vest and with a badge with his picture on it and "Comcast" cruised Meridian between 50th and 52nd this evening, about 6 p.m.  They asked me if I was happy with my service.  I'd just gotten a new box and it wasn't working and told them so.  They replied that they couldn't…

Wheelbarrow Drill Team

If you're wondering how to get involved in this Saturday's Wallingford Kiddie Parade, may we suggest you join up with the Wheelbarrow Drill Team. Skip ahead to around 1:15 to see them practicing for last year's parade here: You don't need anything special to join. You probably don't even need a wheelbarrow (although if you have one, bring it), just show up at 10 am Saturday morning at 4412 Corliss Ave for rehearsal. Parade starts at 11 am, which leaves a…

A new pathway will be constructed with ADA- compliant crushed surfacing material. The project…

Speedy Reedy

Brady writes: Looks like speedy reedy's new location has opened. Does this qualify as wallingford now? After conferring with The Google, we determined that Speedy Reedy is a multi-sport / triathlon supply store and that it's new location at 1300 N Northlake Way is at the very south-eastern corner of Wallingford. It's old location, 75 yards to the west, was Fremont. So, Brady, yes, Speedy Reedy is Wallingford. Speedy Reedy, welcome to the 'hood. Now, what exactly constitutes "triathlon supplies"?
