Green Blocks

Joan C. tipped us off to an energy efficiency program the EOS Alliance is offering Seattle residents. It sounds like they'll send a pro to do a full assessment of your home, inside and out, with recommendations for how to improve, and it's free. But there's a catch. They can't do everyone, so they're choosing which houses to provide the service to based on how many people from a single block apply. Here's the scoop: EOS Alliance is helping Seattle residents…

Pride Week @ Changes

It's Gay Pride Weekend, Sunday marks the 40th anniversary of the Stonewall Riots, and Wallingford is not going to let Capitol Hill have all the fun. Changes (2103 N. 45th St), our one and only gay bar, will be celebrating with some sort of tropical themed weekend, including a Pride Luau BBQ Celebration on Saturday, tropical drink specials and noon to 2 am happy hour all week (except Sunday, when you'll have to wait until 2 pm for happy hour). We had never heard of Yogalife ourselves, but The Google had: Yogalife has studios in Queen…

Rock and Roll Aurora

The Aurora Bridge will be closed this Saturday, June 27th from 6 am to 2 pm for the Rock and Roll Seattle: A Running Nirvana Marathon. Apparently, there are to be bands at various points along the route (although we suspect it may hurt your time to stick around a rock out for a few tunes) and there's some fitness expo associated with it, too. Don't look for us on the route. Just reading the web site left us out of…

Mystery Painting

Chris W. from Lower Wallingford sent us this photo of an oil painting nailed to a telephone pole. It's actually not the first time we've covered this particular piece of random Wallingford outdoor art. Back in January when this blog was born, a shot of this painting, along with a couple of its brethren, was our third post: Rogue Paintings. At the time, we asked if anyone knew who the artist was and how the paintings came to be nailed to…
